In order to achieve effective and rewarding horsemanship, the care and welfare of the horse should include all branches of equine sports medicine, including massage therapy. Through the power of sports massage, I can provide the type of therapy for your horse to relieve muscle pain, tension and stress. This is beneficial in preventing injuries, increasing range of motion, enhancing performance, and generally improving the horse’s disposition. Ultimately, massage therapy can aid in extending the overall life of your horse. Every horse, from a pleasure ride to professional athlete deserves to benefit from the unique skills Equissage has taught me.

I have over twenty years of English riding experience, practicing good horse husbandry skills while always maintaining a strong commitment to the horses health and welfare. My life-long dream for a career with horses has been supported by my personal riding experience in dressage, hunters, jumpers, eventing, western, and trail riding. I love all sports associated with horses but have found my true passion riding hunters and jumpers. Currently, I ride with Fairview Farms in Westlake, CA. Although I am based in the San Fernando Valley, I serve the counties of Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego.

Please contact me to make an appointment for a massage, stretching services and saddle fitting- I promise to provide the utmost in equine therapeutic care.

Growing up riding horses, I always knew that I wanted to make a career centered around these gorgeous animals.  Because I could never afford to have a horse of my own, I would ride any horse I could get my hands on which has given me priceless experience with numerous horses and their behaviors, various training methods, and experience riding both English and Western.

It has been a passion of mine to not only aid in the rehabilitation and wellbeing of these amazing athletes but to also help prevent injuries and allow them to safely perform to the best of their abilities.  Likewise, the pleasure horses who so willingly and lovingly carry their riders deserve the comfort that massage offers.

As a certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist by Equissage California, it would be my pleasure to work on your horse.  I am available in San Diego County.  Please contact me for an appointment.

"A horse does not greet the sun and say “today will be better”. It can only reflect upon past experiences. It is our job to create a positive past." - Karen West

Horses have always had a special place in Rae’s life and heart, from the time she was a little girl in Northern Idaho to current day Southern California educator. And like many other horse owners, she has dealt with issues that these athletes can have as a result of their discipline, their environment, their equipment, or other reason that is not so apparent. Lost time with our horses is painful and frustrating and is what led Rae to the world of equine sports massage therapy. There is nothing like the satisfaction of alleviating muscular pain and tension in a creature that wants nothing more than to please its owner. It is Rae’s goal as an ESMT to give every horse she works with an opportunity for a “positive past”.

I have had horses for about 40 years now. I grew up with horses in the backyard, with my mother breeding the mares, and me riding anything that was old enough. In my twenties, I started showing in Western Pleasure, Trail, and Native Costume. For the last several years I have been focusing on learning Dressage and have shown in Training and 1st Level. I currently own 2 Half-Arabians.

I have had a passion for helping horses through massage for many years and have spent a lot of time working on my own horses. Now, being certified from Equissage in Equine Sports Massage Therapy, I look forward to helping even more horses. I have found it very rewarding to see how the horses react during a full body massage. They get so relaxed. But what really excites me is when I can visibly see the muscle spasms dissipate as I am working on them.

Give me a call or email me for an appointment. I can come to your barn or meet you at a show.

Serving Southern California from Burbank down to Temecula, Ca.
